ATTEND A DRUM MAKING WORKSHOP
During your days with drum maker Kristen Scholfield-Sweet, you will bring a fresh deer skin from raw hide through cleaned membrane to completed frame drum, stretched over a wooden drum hoop and fastened with cedar fittings. With rituals and trance, the spirit voice of the drum will be found, whose spirit images and symbols may become paintings with earth pigments on the frame drum hide.
A drum beater of doeskin and wood will be constructed, and the learning of drum songs, trance drumming techniques and rhythms will conclude the drum making workshop so that you take home the ability to use your ritual drum.
Kristen provides all materials and tools for learning to make a drum, and brings her 23 years of experience as a drum maker to guide your journey with skillful hands.
